Normalcy still to be restored in Gwadar

GWADAR: Communication network in the Gwadar city was still not restored that was damaged by heavy rains and situation was still out of control, A C-130 plane of Pakistan Air Force arrived today with relief goods. Damaged roads hampered distribution of relief items.The tropical cyclone Phet played havoc in the Gwadar district on Saturday as over 40 villages were inundated in rainwater. Heavy rains and strong winds resulted in the death of a woman and 30 persons received injuries.The record rains in Gwadar, almost over 370 mm, accompanied with a very strong wind having 120 KM/hour velocity caused flash flooding in different coastal areas of the province. Emergency was declared in the coastal areas of the province where the Pak Army, the Frontier Corps (FC) and the local administration were engaged in the relief activities in the affected areas.Makran Coastal Highway's road access was cut off with areas, including Gwadar and Turbat, and also Turbat was cut off from Gwadar and Pasni. Necessary including petrol, commodities and vegetables were not available in the city. Residents have criticized the administration for late action.
