Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday expressed his concern over the plight of 269 Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan and has assured the families of the students that the government will do its utmost to get them safely back home. Speaking in the Senate, Gilani has expressed sorrow and grief over the death of the student and said the Foreign Office is in touch with authorities in Kyrgyzstan. He said it is the responsibility of the government to bring back the students.
Gilani tasked the NDMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safe return of the Pakistani nationals as well as the body of the deceased student from the city of Osh.
It was on the directions of the prime minister that NDMA is flying three C-130 aircrafts to Kyrgyzstan today and tomorrow, to bring back the stranded students.
Gilani said the government is promoting politics of reconciliation and it is functioning well despite reservations of the coalition partners. He said the government has addressed these reservations and will continue to do so in future.
The premier said the government is enjoying good working relationship with its coalition partners. Gilani said the government will try to incorporate positive proposals on the budget by members of the Senate.
He said keeping in view the current difficult circumstances it was not possible to present a better budget than this.
